Default How to find a guild

My friend and I both migrated to GW after playing WoW for a few years. As most of you know there were a number of ways to get into a guild. Some would offer you a membership right from the get go- others would put you in a trial. My questions is this: my friend and I are still unguilded- which is the normal procedures for joining a guild? How do you approach? I've been asked to join, but I don't want blindly join a guild- drag my friend and realize I made a mistake. Any advice, tips, leads would be great! Even better if you are in a guild that is taking in people, a link to your web site! Thanks in advance!!!

Every guild is run differently, but there is no penalty to you if you change your mind after joining a guild and wish to leave.

Our Guilds Discussion forum has stickied threads for "Introduce Your Guild" and "Looking for a Guild".

Hint: If you actually want a decent guild, you'll want to look around these forums, not at the guild spam in LA/Kaineng/Kamadan.

Some of the guilds have a more professional application procedure in which you visit their website and post an official application. My guild does this, however we really don't turn anyone away even if they dont fill out an app and just ask an officer to join.

And if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. You might just have to take the plunge and get in one, and see what happens.

I'd suggest looking for a guild that doesn't spam in the cities. Do the dreaded pugging and keep an eye for the decent players (not just player skill but attitude).

That's one of the ways we recruit and it seems to work out ok. Many guilds use interviews, applications etc but a lot will just send you an invite the second you show any interest.

I've never liked the idea of randomly joining guilds. Making friends with people then joining guilds works out better.

I always hate it when we invited someone in to our guild and 2 mins after the guy joined, he asked for free stuff right away :P

So yeah, be nice when you in a guild and ask for help when you need it.
Good luck and welcome to GW

Yes, our number one complaint from officers is people asking for free stuff.

What others have said is true. Just jump into a guild and if you don't like it, leave. Of course you want to give the guild a fair chance - but you're not tied to it and there's no risk involved in joining one.

i tend to join some guilds but i leabve if they are not perfect which no guild ever is so now rather than dissapoint those members who i left i stay as a lone ranger declining guild invites, it feels good you just know that people will give you plenty of choice.

The Bad guilds will just spam guild recruitments, desperate guilds will give you individual whisps , the best guilds you go looking, they wont come to you.
The champion guilds are very hard to get into , you must apply at their websites, be trialled tested etc and after all that leaving you with a tiny chance of being accepted, go to a growing guild with a good leader who can organise hiss guild

I'd play for a while in PuGs. When you find people that you think you'd be good buds with then ask them for an invite.

I concur with the PUG thingy.
Find some good minded people and ask if there are still vacancies.
Also if teh guild makes requirements themselves, leave.
A fried of mine was in a guild and the members needed to give gold/donations to the Leader in order to be allowed to stay.
